Dr. Todd Walter received his B. S. in physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his Ph.D. in 1993 from Stanford University. He is currently a Senior Research Engineer at Stanford University. He is a cochair of the WAAS Integrity Performance Panel (WIPP) focused on the implementation of WAAS and the development of its later stages. Key contributions include: early prototype development proving the feasibility of WAAS, significant contribution to MOPS design and validation, co-editing of the Institute of Navigation's book of papers about WAAS and its European and Japanese counterparts, and design of ionospheric algorithms for WAAS. He was the corecipient of the 2001 ION early achievement award.

Least Squares Techniques for GPS Receivers Positioning Filter using Pseudo-range and Carrier Phase Measurements
In present study, using Least Squares (LS) method, we determine the position smoothing in GPS single-frequency receiver by means of pseudo-range and carrier phase measurements. The application of pseudo-range or carrier phase measurements in GPS receiver positioning separately can lead to defects. By means of pseudo-range data, we have position with less precision and more distortion. By use of...

Measurements of the dual frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers can be used to calculate the electron density and the total electron content (TEC) of the ionosphere layer of the Earth atmosphere. TEC is a key parameter for investigating the ongoing spatial and temporal physical process of the ionosphere. For accurate estimation of TEC from GPS measurements, GPS satellites and GPS r...
متن کاملA Doppler Smoothing Filter using Carrier Phase and Application to RTK
Recently, in the field of ITS (Intelligent Transportation System), accurate and precise position of a vehicle in the street is more demanding. They want to know which lane a car is driving in. The GNSS RTK could provide this accuracy. But, in urban street, due to its environment, the conventional code and carrier based RTK can’t be a practical solution. The Doppler measurement from GNSS receive...
متن کاملCarrier Phase Position Domain Smoothing (CPDS) Algorithm and Flight Test Results for New Dual-Frequency Differential Architecture
Flight test results are presented for a single-frequency, airborne-only carrier phase position domain smoothing (CPDS) algorithm, which is a key component of a new dual-frequency differential architecture for aircraft precision approach and landing. The architecture’s first two major components—a modified dual-frequency Code Noise and Multipath (CNMP) algorithm and new composite protection leve...
متن کاملEvaluation of Deep Signal Fading Effects Due to Ionospheric Scintillation on GPS Aviation Receivers
Deep and frequent GPS signal fading due to strong ionospheric scintillation is major concern for aircraft navigation in the equatorial region during solar maximum periods. Deep signal fading can break a receiver’s carrier tracking lock on a satellite channel and the satellite cannot be used for position solution until a receiver reacquires the lost channel. Frequent signal fading also causes fr...
